MAKING YOUR MARK

If you have opened a bank account, applied for a tax file number or signed your name on your Learners permit – you have used a signature.

Your signature is your mark of identity. It’s the mark that authenticates in writing, your knowledge, understanding, approval, acceptance or obligations.

More often than not, your signature is your full name. But it could be your initials, your nickname, your first initial and your surname, or any combination, as long as you use it consistently – that means it has to match on all of your legal paperwork (drivers licence, passport etc.).
